CADAVER DAYS 2020-21


Both sessions on 30 August will start with basic anatomy, guided by a Professor of Anatomy followed by an exploration of the soft tissues with particular regard to structures involved in common injury situations guided by Mel Cash, principal of the London School of Sports Massage.

Wednesday 31 July

Morning (10am–1pm)

The spine, spinal cord & CNS - the anatomy of lower back pain: The muscles and vertebrae of the spine, understanding the origin of many common problems and disc pathologies, root nerves, nerve impingement and neuropathy.  Movement between the sacrum and coccyx.

Wednesday 31 July

Afternoon (2pm-5pm) 

Joint function and dysfunction in the hip, leg, knee, ankle and foot: Exploring the incredible strength of the hip joint and gaining a better understanding of what can go wrong; why we end up with hip and knee replacements, and the relationship of the hip to the lower back, knee, ankle and foot.

Friday 30 August

Morning (10am–1pm)

Common injuries of the upper body - the neck and shoulder, and common injuries thereof: What is the rotator cuff, how do these tears affect mobility and the relationship between shoulder, neck and TMJ?

Friday 30 August

Afternoon (2pm-5pm) 

The thigh, leg, knee and ankle and common injuries: Stability throughout the leg, and the role of the iliotibial band in these injuries.
